My "head fake"

Yesterday I had my DSL connection down and suddenly I lost all my connectivity to the world and suddenly I found myself unable to study a single word from my studies, and I just stopped with myself and said I didn’t have DSL before and I used to study well, why is it when my DSL went down everything seemed to be so wrong? Suddenly I realized that all my life whether at school or college I was using the “head fake”.

The “head fake” technique it’s so simple for you to understand if we call it “Fake your head” I learnt first about the “head fake” technique from the video “The last lecture” by Randy Paush and he explained that as an example of the “head fake” is that when he wanted to teach school students programming concepts like (object oriented) he made a computer game and named it Alice which is purely a computer game but for you to command Alice in the game you have to use few instructions, and these instructions will teach you object oriented, if you get later into computer programming.

The “head fake” here is that you’re doing something that fakes your head with; to do something you don’t want to do … in Alice game for example children are told they’re playing a game where in fact they’re learning object oriented programming, another example if you want to learn team building instead of heading to boring sessions about team building go and play football with few of your friends … This way you fake your head you’re enjoying your time where in fact you’re learning team work skills while playing football.

If you know me or not you know that when I study I love to listen to songs and my performance increase if I get to hear a new album or a new song, the “head fake” here lies in the fact that I fake my head by telling it I’m listening to a new album where in fact am studying and the more interesting the songs to me the more I get deeper into studying, and in fact I also study while am online on MSN I fake my head by saying am online and having a cool messenger and seeing people pop online and offline just to forget the fact that am studying.

The question that may pop to your mind now and even mine why is it without internet I felt lost yesterday, it’s simply before I get DSL connection I used the “head fake” but on another faked thing I used to turn on Nile fm while studying I was faking my head that am listening to the radio and interacting with its presenters where in fact I was studying but as time changed I used my DSL and messenger and Facebook as a head fake for myself.

To study well today I dug out some old songs from my pc and played them and convinced myself that am enjoying them and the “head fake” worked well even without DSL or internet ….

Use the “head fake” in your life it may help you get through things you always fear to get through and wish me luck in my midterms 
